An exceptional Rod. In minty condition, probably unused, a “ CHRIS YATES THE MERLIN” a very popular Avon Style Rod , hand built from seasoned RARE HOLLOW BUILT Best Tonkin built cane, gently heat treated to temper it giving a lovely honey colour, hand split into strips that were straightened before milling to their final dimensions. Tolerances of +/- one thousandth of an inch were maintained in building this rod, the sections are exactly straight. Reinforced ferrules, waterproof splint end, blued & lacquered. The rings are amberfin lined for the butt and tip with hard chromed stainless steel intermediates . The Flor grad cork handle is 24” with upgraded nickel silver sliding reel bands and end cap with stopper. This rod is No.9 of a limited run, scarlet silk whippings tipped black. Ideal for 3-6lbs reel lines, and 1 ounce casting weights, a very elegant rod with finesse, making it a real joy to fish with. ON HOLD
