{"product_id":"ultra-rare-first-model-hardy-bros-nottingham-centrepin-c-1892","title":"Ultra rare First model Hardy Bros Nottingham ‘Silex’ Action Centrepin c.1896","description":"\u003cp\u003eThis is a very rare reel by Hardy Bros, probably made mid 1890s and because I’ve never seen one before with this calliper spring mechanism I’m fairly sure this must possibly be a first model Nottingham Centrepin with “ Silex” Action, made from beautifully grained walnut, check John Drewetts book The Master Reel Makers page 293.( as shown in my pic) that version must be later than this reel by looking at the check mechanism, having a calliper check spring and a drum lever that releases the pressure to cast. This reel measures 4 3\/8” diameter. Having twin horn handles set on brass cusps, having a brass ‘ drop latch ‘ drum release catch with line guide, correct foot not shortened or altered with the very early un-bordered oval Hardy Bros Logo, found on the earliest 1880s made Hardy reels. I’ve never seen another similar reel so a very scarce find, certainly one for the the collector..
