This knife belonged to the Head Gardener on Balmoral estate and was gifted to him by KING GEORGE on his return from the War in 1946 as was other knives gifted to returning staff from the Balmoral estate who returned from the War. The knife is engraved “ WELCOME HOME CRATHIE 1946” Crathie is the Parish to Balmoral and the famous Crathie Church where the Royals and especially the late Queen frequently visited when residing in Balmoral Castle. Its a high quality pocket knife made by BUTLER & Co of SHEFFIELD Who also made quality knives for HARDY BROS ETC.. it has nickel silver side plates a large and small blade, can opener, screwdriver, boot pick, cork screw, gralloching blade, lanyard shackle, in very good condition and very well cared for, a nice quality item with history.
